Today, on Mother’s Day, I’m not just thinking about the woman who raised me.

I’m honoring the one who shaped me — in ways I’m only now beginning to fully understand.

Her name was Alganesh, but everyone lovingly called her Algu.

She was quiet strength. Grace in motion. The kind of woman who made hard things feel possible.

Though she passed more than 20 years ago, it was just last year that I truly began the journey of healing. How she taught me to plan ahead. To save not just money, but peace of mind. To care for others while standing strong in who I am.

She never used the words “financial literacy,” but that’s exactly what she gave me—a foundation of wisdom, resilience, and preparation.

💚 That’s why I named my work Algu Roots.

It’s a tribute. A legacy. And a space for women—especially first-generation immigrants—to feel rooted, clear, and confident about their financial lives.

Because when we’re grounded, we grow strong.

So today, I officially introduce Algu Roots to the world—not just as a service, but as a story.
